ترمه بافی

ترمه... جادوی رنگ! جادوی نقش! جادوی خیال!

نگهداری‌ ترمه‌‌

تِرمِه ، نوعی پارچة نفیس غالباً از کرک یا پشم یا ابریشم با نقوش تزیینی سنّتی ، بیشتر بته جقه . در واژه نامه های فارسی ذکر شده که واژة ترمه فارسی است . ترمه را به صورت تِرمَه و تیرمه نیز ضبط کرده و تِرمِه و تِرما را معادل شال کشمیری آورده اند (دهخدا، ذیل واژه ). در دورة قاجار جلدی را که روکش مقوای آن از ترمه بود و بیشتر برای جلد بیاض * های ادعیه به کار می رفت ، «جلد ترمه ای » می خواندند (مایل هروی ، ص 610ـ611). ترمه به معانی دیگری نیز به کار می رود ( رجوع کنید به د. ازبکستان شوروی ، ج 11، ص 62؛ قدری ؛ ردهاوس ، ذیل واژه ).

در خصوص اینکه خاستگاه ترمه بافی ، ایران یا کشمیر است ، اختلاف نظر وجود دارد. به گفتة گلوک (ص 214)، در کتابهای راجع به تاریخ کشمیر آمده است که منسوجات پشمی کشمیر اصل بیگانه (ایرانی ) دارند. برخی نیز معتقدند ترمه از کشمیر به ایران آمده است («تحقیقی در ترمه بافی کرمان »، ص 4)، اما در اینکه طرح شالهای ترمة کشمیر منشأ ایرانی دارد، تردیدی نیست (ذابح ، ص 139؛ دیماند ، ص 255). در دورة صفوی نقش بته جقه و دیگر نقشهای ایرانی به هند برده شد و در شالهای کشمیر به کار رفت و پس از آنکه شال کشمیر با نقش بته جقه به ایران آمد، این نقش به بتة کشمیری و بتة ترمه معروف شد (آذرپاد و حشمتی رضوی ، ص 129؛ نیز رجوع کنید به بته * ). به نوشتة بیکر ، در ابتدای سلطنت فتحعلی شاه (1211ـ1250) شالهای کشمیر نایاب شد، ازینرو به دستور وی در کرمان کارگاههای شال بافی دایر کردند. این کار به همت امیرکبیر توسعه یافت . در منابع ، در اشاره به انواع شالهای کرمان ، از شال ترمه نیز نام برده شده است (ص 131ـ132).

گفته شده است بافت ترمه در کرمان شروع شد و در یزد به کمال رسید. در بدو ورود در انحصار زردشتیان یزد بود که از آن برای تهیة شلوارهای مخصوص مراسم ازدواج استفاده می کردند و گاه نیز نوعِ «مُحَرَّماتِ» (نوعی شال راه راه ) آن را به کمر می بستند («تحقیقی در ترمه بافی کرمان »، همانجا؛ یزد نگین کویر ، دفتر نخست ، ص 179). برخی ترمة یزد را تکامل یافتة پارچه ای بافت کرمان به نام رضا ترکی / ترک دانسته اند (بیکر، ص 131؛ «بررسی هنر ترمه بافی در یزد»، ص 14ـ16؛ «تحقیقی در ترمه بافی کرمان »، همانجا). ترمه در یزد به «انگشت باف » هم شهرت داشته است ( یزد نگین کویر ، همانجا).

از نخستین سالهای قرن سیزدهم ، مالیاتهای سنگینی برای کشاورزان ایران مقرر شد که سبب رکود تولید مواد اولیة ترمه ، چون پنبه و پشم و ابریشم ، گردید و ادامة کار ترمه بافان را دشوار ساخت (حسن بیگی ، ص 226ـ227). در همین دوران مقرر شد که شال بافان کشمیر عوارضی به نام «عوارض داغ » بپردازند (برای اطلاع بیشتر رجوع کنید به رینا ، ص 26). در اواخر سلطنت ناصرالدین شاه ، غلبه سلیقه اروپایی بر سلیقه ایرانیان و وجود طرحهای متنوع و رنگهای درخشان شالهای کشمیر، موجب تفوق شال کشمیری در بازار ایران و دیگر کشورها شد (مک داول ، ص 169). جنس ترمه ابتدا از پشم بود و بعد نخی ، زری و ابریشمی آن نیز بافته شد («بررسی هنر ترمه بافی در یزد»، ص 49ـ50). بافت ترمه های ابریشمی ، احتمالاً به سبب مقاومت بیشتر ابریشم در برابر بید و رطوبت ، رواج بیشتری یافت (عناویان ، ص 7)؛ چنانکه امروزه نیز اغلب ترمه های ماشینیِ یزد ابریشمی است .

ترمه به رغم ظرافت نخهای تار و پود آن ، نسبتاً ضخیم است ، زیرا تعداد این نخها بسیار است و گاه به دوازده تا می رسد («بررسی هنر ترمه بافی در یزد»، ص 18ـ19).
